Crafts For Kids - Stained Glass Boxes
Author: C Pinkston
It is pretty easy to produce some stained glass jewelry boxes which will look very beautiful, as you would buy them from the market. This is the kind of project that is extremely suitable for people who are unskilled in handcrafting.
The glass that is used on this project is rather small, and this will make it a very good beginner project. You can make the details on the glass very simple or highly detailed, as you want to decrease or increase the difficulty of the project.
First, you should sand the outside of the stained glass jewelry box with some light sand paper. Then, you need to wipe the box carefully with a moist cloth in order to remove all the dust particles. Next, you need to dry the jewelry box.
Now, you need to paint the box with your preferred choice of colors. You may use some faux finishing methods in order to make the jewelry box look pretty decorative. Next, you need to leave the surface of the jewelry box unpainted in the area the glass will go.
Now, try to apply a coating of polish to the painted jewelry box. Permit the finish to dry totally. You need to sketch the design of the stained glass on a paper that has the exact size of the glass. After that, place the sketched paper beneath the glass.
Next, you have to paint the principal lines with the basic shade of color. Let them dry perfectly and after that, cover the stained glass jewelry box with the rest of the colors. Let them dry for several hours and then glue the stained glass jewelry box by placing it with the painted face down. The last thing to do is to glue some cord around the boxes and thus the stained glass jewelry boxes are ready.
